Parents’ Meeting of II Semester Students (Morning, Day and Evening Shifts)
The Parents’ Meeting for the II Semester students of the Morning, Day, and Evening shifts was held at 10.30 am in the Bosco Hall of the College. A good number of parents attended the meeting, showing their concern and commitment towards the education of their children. Most of the Morning and Evening shift teachers were present and actively participated in the meeting. The programme began with an introductory address by the Principal, Rev Fr Januarius S Sangma. He stressed the need for greater collaboration between parents and the College for better academic results and the overall growth of students. He reminded everyone that education is a shared responsibility and that when parents and teachers work together, students benefit greatly. The Principal then read a passage from Scripture, played a prayer song for all to listen to, and led the gathering in an opening prayer. After this, he formally welcomed the parents and thanked them sincerely for taking time out of their busy schedules to be present. In his address, the Principal spoke about the Faculty Development Programmes conducted by the College. He explained that these programmes help teachers to improve their teaching methods and remain updated. He highlighted the introduction of Outcome-Based Education (OBE), which focuses on clear learning outcomes and aims to improve the quality of teaching and learning. He expressed hope that this system would help every department and every teacher to guide students more effectively. He then invited the IQAC Coordinator, Dr Meuller Beul M Sangma, to address the parents. She spoke positively about the academic system of the College. She encouraged the parents to motivate the students to take both Major and Minor courses seriously. She explained the mentorship system, where each student is guided by a mentor, and said that this relationship promotes guidance, responsibility, and mutual growth. She also expressed confidence that the Faculty Development Programmes and OBE would further strengthen student performance. She further emphasized the importance of Cognitive, Affective, and Psychomotor skills and highlighted how teachers strive to incorporate these skills into the teaching-learning process, ensuring students develop not just knowledge, but also understanding and practical abilities. This holistic approach will ultimately lead to Outcome-Based Education, equipping students for success. The Principal also spoke openly about certain concerns. He mentioned the difficulty in finding part-time counsellors and stressed the need for better communication between parents and the College. He cautioned against harmful habits such as smoking and drug use, urging parents to guide their children carefully. He emphasised discipline, punctuality, regular attendance, and serious preparation for examinations. He reminded parents that the investment they make in education must bring good academic and personal results. During the question-and-answer session, parents shared helpful suggestions. One important suggestion was to create department-wise WhatsApp groups for better communication. Some parents also mentioned that students do not always share important college information at home. The College assured the parents that efforts would be made to improve communication. Overall, the parents expressed satisfaction with the sincere efforts of the College. The meeting concluded with a photo session. Tea was served to all, and the College Calendar was distributed to the parents. The meeting was meaningful and fruitful. It strengthened the bond between the College and the parents and renewed the shared commitment to guide students towards academic excellence and good character.
