Five Students attended the MMUNs Conference at Shillong

On the Thursday evening of 12th August, 2022, Team West Garo Hills, which included 5 students of Don Bosco College, Tura and 5 students of Sherwood, Tura was set off for the 3rd Shillong Conference of Meghalaya Model United Nation which was held at St. Edmund's College, Shillong. The Team was accompanied by Mr Dorang M. Sangma (incharge of the team) and Mr Sourav (teacher of Sherwood school).

It was a 3 days conference starting from 13th to 15th August, 2022 with the theme "Reflect Resolve Revolusionize". Eminent personalities of the state were the guest speakers for the opening and closing ceremony of the event. They delivered many motivational and inspiring messages in their speeches.

There were 8 committees: UNEA, NEPPM, UNGA, UNHCR, PMSR, IPC, UNHRC and Lok Sabha.

The students were asked to choose their own favourable committee and accordingly the portfolios were provided. The committee and portfolios of students of DBC are as follows:

1. Tanmoy Sarkar- UNEA - Jamaica

2. Rita M Marak- NEPPM - Deborah Marak

3. Nokeyra R Marak- UNEA- Nauru

4. Winona A Sangma- Lok Sabha - Vincent H Pala

5. Henrick Ch Sangma- IPC - BBC - 02

The committees were given different agendas respectively and several committee sessions were held according to it. After the sessions for the day ended, there were many social interactions events.

The students immensely enjoyed their time in the conference. This kind of exposure helped them to learn a lot of valuable things and it helped them to have confidence in themselves. As first timers the students did exceptionally well and it proved to be very beneficial for them and it helped them to aim higher and gave them the desire to take part in this kind of conferences in the future.

One of the students of DBC Nokeyra R Marak was awarded with special mention certificate on this conference.

The students were really encouraged by the positive feedback they received from the organizers and chair of their committee. Their hard work, resilience and efforts were appreciated by all.
