Parents Engage in Constructive Dialogue at 1st Semester BA Parents’ Meet

The College was abuzz with energy as parents and educators came together for the Parents’ Meet 2023, an event dedicated to fostering collaboration between the college and the families of its first-semester Bachelor of Arts students. The event, jointly organized by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) and the Students-Teachers-Parents Appraisal Committee, took place on 12th August 2023in the DBCTE Hall.

The event commenced with a soulful prayer song performed by two students, setting a positive tone for the evening. Mr. Habul Das, Associate Professor in the Department of Mathematics and Assistant Coordinator of the Students-Teachers-Parents Appraisal Committee, extended a warm welcome to the attendees, while Dr. Barbara S. Sangma, Associate Professor Department of English and IQAC Coordinator, engaged the parents in a discussion on the crucial aspects of Quality Assurance & NAAC accreditation.

One of the highlights of the day was a compelling Motivational Talk on Drug and Substance Abuse Prevention, delivered by Mrs. Balmuri Marak, the Assistant Director of the Secondary Branch at MBOSE. Her insightful presentation shed light on the importance of this issue, providing parents with valuable knowledge to safeguard their children.

The College's various departments were showcased through engaging presentations by esteemed faculty members. Dr. (Sr) Lucy R. Marak, Assistant Professor and Head of the Department of English, Sir Siddhartha Roy, HOD of the Economics Department, Sir Pynshai G. Momin, Assistant Professor in the Department of Political Science (Shift I), and Sir Sengrik Ch. Marak, Assistant Professor in the Department of Garo (Shift III), shared insights about their respective disciplines.

Fr. Bivan Rodriques Mukhim SDB, the Principal of Don Bosco College, Tura, graced the event with his presence. He provided an overview of the College's mission and presented the Four Year Undergraduate Programme (FYUG), aligning with the vision of the National Education Policy 2020, as discussed by the affiliating university NEHU.

The Parents’ Meet facilitated a platform for parents to express their thoughts and concerns, with Fr. John Paul Tirkey, Vice Principal and Coordinator of the Students-Teachers-Parents Appraisal Committee, skillfully guiding the discussion. Parents appreciated the College's commitment to delivering quality education to their children and expressed their gratitude for the initiative.

The event was hosted by Dr. Aksana Neah Ch. Marak, creating a warm and inclusive atmosphere. Mr. Tenang R Marak, a member of the Students-Teachers-Parents Appraisal Committee, offered a heartfelt vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all involved in organizing the enriching event.
