Fifth Semester Arts Parents' Meet 2023 Strengthens College-Family Collaboration.

 

The Parents' Meet 2023 held at Don Bosco College for Vth Semester Arts students proved to be an enlightening and collaborative event, showcasing the institution's commitment to involving parents in their students' academic journey. Organized by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) and the Students-Teachers-Parents Appraisal Committee, the event took place on August 26, 2023, in Bosco Hall.

 

The day commenced with a welcome from Mr. Habul Das, Associate Professor in the Department of Mathematics and Assistant Coordinator of the Students-Teachers-Parents Appraisal Committee. His opening remarks set the tone for a day full of insightful discussions and interactive sessions.

 

Dr. Barbara S. Sangma, Associate Professor in the Department of English and IQAC Coordinator, took the stage to deliver a talk on Quality Assurance and NAAC (National Assessment and Accreditation Council). Her presentation aimed to provide both parents and students with an in-depth understanding of the quality benchmarks upheld by the college.

 

A significant highlight of the event was the motivational talk on drug and substance abuse prevention by Ms. Balmuri K. Marak, Assistant Director of the Secondary Branch at MBOSE (Meghalaya Board of School Education). Her informative session shed light on the critical issue of substance abuse and offered valuable insights into its prevention.

 

The Heads of various departments also took the opportunity to share information about their respective academic domains. Mr. Binendro N. Marak, Assistant Professor and Head of the Department of Political Science, Mr. Nicholas M. Sangma, Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Garo, Ms. Judalin Kharshandi, Assistant Professor and Head of the Department of Sociology, and Mr. Tengchak K. Sangma, Assistant Professor in the Department of Economics (Shift I), engaged the audience with their presentations, showcasing the college's diverse academic offerings.

 

Fr. Bivan Rodriques Mukhim SDB, the Principal of Don Bosco College, addressed the gathering to provide insights into the college's overall environment and ethos. His words offered a comprehensive understanding of the institution's values and objectives.

The event also featured a session dedicated to parental involvement, where parents had the opportunity to engage in a question and answer session.

 

The Parents' Meet concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Mr. Sengprang A Sangma, Assistant Professor in the Department of History. His words expressed gratitude to all participants for their active involvement and dedication to fostering a collaborative educational environment.
