INTERNATIONAL LITERACY DAY CELEBRATED WITH ARTISTIC FLAIR.

 

In commemoration of International Literacy Day, the Department of Education at Don Bosco College, Tura, organised a vibrant painting and sketching competition under the theme, “Promoting Literacy for a World in Transition: Building the Foundation for Sustainable and Peaceful Societies”. The event took place on September 8, 2023, at Bosco Hall.

 

Over 40 talented students from the College enthusiastically participated in the competition, presenting a striking array of paintings and sketches, each conveying profound messages. The esteemed panel of judges, Dr. Uma Roy Bhowmik, Head of the Department of Education, and Dr. Meullar B. M. Sangma, Assistant Professor of the Department of Education, faced the arduous task of selecting the most outstanding creations.

 

In the sketching category, Maybirth N Arengh secured the third position, followed by Karan Hajong in second place, and Tesrin D Sangma emerging as the well-deserved first-place winner. Meanwhile, in the painting category, Owese Aklame M Sangma earned third place honors, while Nikita Sarkar and Chesimchi N Sangma jointly clinched the second-place position, and Weyare Ch Marak swept away the top spot.

 

The winners expressed elation and pride at their accomplishments, attributing their success to the inspiring theme of the competition. They shared their dedication to using their artistic talents to advocate for the critical cause of literacy.

 

The competition was a resounding triumph, effectively spotlighting the paramount significance of literacy in today’s dynamic world. It served as a testament to the exceptional talent and creativity exhibited by the students of Don Bosco College.

 

The judges commended the high caliber of the entries, noting the profound understanding the students demonstrated regarding the competition's theme. They lauded the students for their ability to articulate their ideas in a manner both inventive and meaningful.
