Celebrating the Spirit of Christmas: College Unites for Pre-Christmas Get-Together.

In a joyous and festive gathering, the faculty members and students of Don Bosco College, Tura came together on December 19, 2023, to celebrate the birth of the Savior Jesus Christ. The day commenced at 10:00 am with a Pre-Christmas get-together that brought the college community closer through music, dance, and reflections on the true meaning of Christmas.

The heartwarming event began with the harmonious voices of both staff and students joining in carol singing, filling the air with melodies such as "Mary’s Boy Child Jesus Christ was born on Christmas Day," "Santa Claus is Coming to Town," and "Jingle Bells." The program unfolded with the reading of the Word of God, setting a spiritual tone for the celebration, followed by the Blessing of the Crib.

Adding a touch of creativity and artistry, students from various departments showcased their talents. The English Department Shift I students, in particular, captured the essence of the season with a lively Christmas skit portraying the birth of the Savior, bringing the biblical narrative to life through their performance.

Fr Bivan Rodriques Mukhim, the Principal, delivered a heartfelt Christmas message, reminding everyone present of the true purpose of Christmas. In his address, he emphasized, "Christmas is not about Santa Claus, not about the star, not about the Christmas tree, not about the cake and Christmas card. Christmas is all about Christ." Fr Mukhim urged the community to approach the coming year with sincerity in their relationship with God, others, and themselves.

Other speakers during the celebration included Dr. Barbara S. Sangma, IQAC Coordinator, Dr. Yubraj Sharma, and Dr. Colnat B. Marak. Each shared their insights and reflections on the significance of Christmas and its enduring message of love, hope, and compassion.

The entire event was meticulously overseen by the Vice Principal, Rev Fr John Paul Tirkey, who ensured that the celebration radiated the spirit of unity, joy, and goodwill. As the college community embraced the festivities, the Pre-Christmas get-together served as a reminder to cherish the true essence of Christmas and extend love and kindness to one another.
