Celebrating World Social Justice Day: College Hosts Debate on Gender Pay Gap.

On February 20th, 2024, the Department of Sociology marked World Social Justice Day with an insightful event centered on "Social Justice and Decent Life for All." The occasion saw the organization of a Debate Competition aimed at fostering dialogue and understanding on pertinent social issues, particularly focusing on the persistent challenge of the Gender Pay Gap.

Moderated by Dr. Meuller Beul M. Sangma, students from various disciplines engaged in a spirited exchange of ideas, exploring the complexities surrounding gender-based wage disparities. The debate provided a platform for students to articulate their perspectives, backed by research and analysis, to shed light on this pressing societal issue.

The event was graced by the presence of the Principal of the College, the IQAC Coordinator Dr. Barbara S. Sangma, and Dr. Uma Roy Bhowmik, Head of the Department of Education. Each shared profound reflections on the theme, emphasizing the imperative of striving for equitable opportunities and dignified livelihoods for all members of society.

Following a series of compelling arguments and rebuttals, the motion was adjourned in favor of the winning team, whose eloquence and depth of insight distinguished them in the competition. The Principal and IQAC Coordinator took the stage to honor the victorious participants, presenting them with trophies and certificates in recognition of their achievement.
