Flash News
The Don Bosco College community ushered in the academic year 2025–2026 with a grand
and inspiring inauguration on 24 July 2025, held in the college auditorium. The year’s theme,
Unveiling Tomorrow – Quantum Frontiers in Education, captured the spirit of embracing
innovation while remaining rooted in values.
The occasion was graced by Rev Fr. V.A. Cyriac, the visionary founder Principal of the
college and presently Campus Officer at Don Bosco College, Chapaguri, Bongaigaon, who
served as the Chief Guest. His presence evoked pride and nostalgia, reminding all of the
institution’s humble beginnings and its remarkable growth.
A significant highlight of the day was the farewell felicitation of Dr. Biswajit Paul,
Department of Zoology, who retired after an illustrious 35 years of loyal and selfless service.
Colleagues, students, and alumni alike cherish his unwavering dedication, scholarly
commitment, and lasting impact on generations of learners. In a touching tribute, the
Principal proudly announced that the best parting gift to Dr. Paul was the outstanding
performance of his students in the final year: 11 first divisions out of 15 students, 4 second
divisions, and one 7th rank holder — a fitting testament to his years of committed
mentorship.
Representing the department, Mr. Aruldass Rani delivered a heartfelt address to Dr. Paul,
highlighting his exceptional mentoring, motivating spirit, and intellectual depth. Dr. Paul was
then presented with gifts as tokens of gratitude, after which he was invited to cut the
commemorative cake prepared for the occasion — a gesture that added warmth and joy to the
celebration.
The programme opened with words of welcome, followed by insightful addresses from Dr.
Barbara S. Sangma, IQAC Coordinator; Fr. Januarius S. Sangma, Principal; and several
faculty members, each underlining the transformative role of education in a rapidly changing
world.
The Chief Guest, Rev. Fr. Cyriac, delivered an inspiring keynote, urging the college
community to explore the “quantum frontiers” of education — pushing boundaries, fostering
creativity, and preparing students to be leaders in a globalised future. In his farewell speech,
Dr. Paul reflected with warmth and humility on his long journey, expressing gratitude for the
camaraderie and support he received over the decades.
Despite the day’s sweltering heat, the students turned out in impressive numbers, maintaining
exemplary discipline and lending the occasion an atmosphere of dignity and respect. Their
well-prepared cultural performances — rich in variety and artistic flair — added vibrancy,
making the day both meaningful and memorable.
The inauguration was not merely the start of another academic year; it was a celebration of
legacy, vision, and the shared resolve to stride confidently into the future, true to the ethos of
Don Bosco College.
