Empowering Futures: Career Guidance Programme for 6th Semester Students

On the bright morning of April 14, 2025, the Bosco Hall of the college buzzed with energy and eager anticipation as the 6th semester students of Arts, Science, and Commerce gathered for a much-awaited Career Guidance Programme. Organized with the vision of equipping students with the necessary tools and insights to navigate the evolving professional world, the event stood as a testament to the institution’s unwavering commitment to the holistic development of its students.

The distinguished resource person for the day was Mr. Jude Rangku T. Sangma, a highly respected MCS officer, currently serving as the Additional Deputy Commissioner of Tura and Project Director, District Rural Development Authority (DRDA), West Garo Hills. His presence added gravitas to the occasion and sparked immediate engagement among the students.

The programme began with a brief yet warm welcome speech by Fr. Januarius S. Sangma, the Principal of the college. With heartfelt words, he expressed gratitude to Mr. Jude for dedicating his valuable time to be with the youth — “teeming with life and future,” as he described them. This sentiment set a deeply respectful and hopeful tone for the entire session.

As a symbolic gesture of respect and cultural appreciation, a student presented Mr. Jude with a traditional pandra, extending a warm and dignified welcome that highlighted the rich heritage and hospitality of the region.

What followed was a session marked by insight, inspiration, and interaction. Mr. Jude seamlessly blended expert knowledge with engaging dialogue as he delved into the vast landscape of career opportunities across various sectors. His emphasis on both government and private job markets, as well as emerging fields of work, opened the eyes of many to possibilities they had never before considered. What truly stood out, however, was the interactive nature of the session. Students were not mere listeners but active participants — asking questions, sharing opinions, and exploring their own career perceptions in a safe and encouraging environment.

To refresh and rejuvenate, the students were treated to tasty snacks and cool drinks during a short break, creating a warm, community-like atmosphere amidst the formal setting.

The energy and curiosity of the students kept the session going well beyond the scheduled time, a clear indication of its success and impact. As the day came to a close, it was evident that the students were not just informed but deeply inspired. They left with clearer visions of their future and a renewed sense of purpose.

Recognizing the importance of continuity in such initiatives, it was agreed that the group would reconvene once more before the commencement of the end-term examination, ensuring sustained guidance and support as the students prepare to take the next steps in their academic and professional journeys.

The Career Guidance Programme was not merely an event, but a memorable milestone — one that empowered young minds, broadened horizons, and lit the path toward a brighter future.
