Celebration of the National Mathematics Day Cum  Inter School Quiz Competition.

 Venue: B.Ed Conference Hall.

 Preamble: 

 A One day programme on Celebration of the National Mathematics Day cum Inter School Quiz Competition has been conducted on 10th October, 2025, at Don Bosco College, Tura in order to spread interest of Mathematics among the students. The National Mathematics Day is actually scheduled on 22nd December to commemorate the Birth Anniversary of the greatest mathematician Srinivas Ramanujan, but as the college remains closed on that day on account of Christmas Celebration, therefore, we have preponed the event on this day. The event was an initiative by the students of the Department of Mathematics; Co-ordinated by Mrs. Nenzebi Ch Sangma, Assistant Professor, Department of Mathematics and Mr. Habul Chandra Das, Associate Professor & HoD, Department of Mathematics monitored the entire process.      

 Participant’s Profile: 

  A total of  200   students and almost all the faculty members from all the departments of Science Stream attended the programme.

 Description about the Program: 

  The inaugural function began by the Anchors  Ms. Sneha Paul and Ms. Sellorine N Sangma, 5th Semester Maths Major Students.  Ms. Nenzebi Ch Sangma, Assistant Professor, Department of Mathematics, who was the Convener of the Organising Committee, had welcomed the guests. The Principal, Rev. Fr. Januarius S Sangma, SDB had in his speech appreciated the department for organising such an august event and motivated the other departments too to organise such programmes in future. He exhorted the students to be ambassadors to young school students of perceiving mathematics positively, overcome phobia towards this subject, do group study of it coupled with personal practise at home. Mr. Habul Chandra Das, Associate Professor & HoD, Department of Mathematics, had emphasized on the need of celebration of such great personalities to inspire the students to walk in their footsteps.

   The following events were hosted in the daylong celebration:

 (i)  Group Seminars Contest were organised by 5th and 3rd Semester students    of the department of Mathematics in which the 5th Semester students lead by  Ms. Chenia N Marak came out as winners.

 (ii)  Quiz Contest among the 5 different Schools of the Town was conducted in which the students of Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Tura came out as winners.

  At the end Judges had distributed the prizes to the participants.

 Feedback: 

   Many of the faculty members present in the programme expressed their gratitude to the staff of the Department of Mathematics for creating awareness among the students for taking active role in organising such events and praised the students for their Nobel initiatives. 

   Vote of thanks was proposed by Ms. Viska Viva Ch Marak , a 5th Semester Maths Major Student. The daylong programme was concluded with the National Anthem.
