National Level Webinar on Applications of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning in Smart Deci

The Department of Physics and IQAC, Don Bosco College, Tura, Meghalaya organized a National Level Webinar on Applications of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning in Smart Decision-Making on Zoom as well as YouTube platforms on 18th of August 2025 from 6.00 pm to 7.45 pm. The Resource Person was Dr. Saroj Kr. Biswas, Associate Professor in Computer Science and Engineering Department at National Institute of Technology (NIT) Silchar, Assam. He is a well renowned speaker and has expertise in Machine Learning, Image Processing, Artificial Intelligence, Deep Learning and Data Mining. He has produced 12 PhDs under him and has 86 Publications in reputed National and International Journals and has more than 3350 Google Scholar Citations.

Dr. Arindam Ghosh and Dr. Yubaraj Sharma from the Department of Physics, Don Bosco College, Tura moderated the programme. The words of welcome were proposed by Mr Mahidhar Rajbongshi and an Introductory Speech was given by Fr. Januarius S. Sangma, Principal, Don Bosco College, Tura, Meghalaya.

Dr. Arindam Ghosh introduced the Resource Person to the participants. A total of around 200 participants form eastern part of India including Odisha, Bihar, West Bengal, Assam, Mizoram and Meghalaya took part. The Resource Person did not go into the deep theory behind AI and ML and instead focussed on the application part of it with a little bit of introductory theory. He dwelt in details about the applications of AI and ML. One such application was how to use AI and ML in improved crop production. The other applications he discussed were on health, finance, etc.

After his presentation, there was a question and answer session for about 20 minutes where the Resource Person Dr. Saroj Kr Biswas answered the queries of the participants. The participants took an active part on it. The vote of thanks was proposed by Mr Gaurav Biswas from the Department of Physics, Don Bosco College, Tura.

Overall, the webinar was a successful one as indicated by the feedbacks from the participants. Soft copies of certificates will be given to the participants who have registered and upon successful submission of the feedback.
